  2. FiftyOne Fans Dish Out Awesome Sauce

You know you’ve managed to stumble upon something special when people across the country start sharing massive levels of awesome sauce with each other.  I can’t even begin to express how excited I am about the way you guys and girls have made 51 a part of your passion.  It’s surely not everyday that you see fans reacting to a marketing company this way.  The fact is that you rarely (if ever) know the people behind the public relations or the marketing of some of your favorite things.

The line for that stops right here though. We’re all right here for you to communicate with, interact with, game with and be unique with.  It is a unique thing going on here at FiftyOne…a unique thing that I’m very proud to be a part of.  The awesome sauce is definitely filling lots of bowls out there for people to taste.

I wanted to share some of the things that a few FiftyOne Marketing fans have done for the community of 51 heads out there to enjoy.  They’ve created iPhone themes, wallpapers and even in-game art showcasing everyone’s favorite dice!

  3. You Choose, the dice is in your hands!

FiftyOne Marketing is gearing up for an extravaganza amongst all the little dice rollers out there.  What we want you to do is decide which game and which platform will be featured in this event.  So what shall it be?

Will it be Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3?  Will it be the new games in the streets like Borderlands, Halo 3: ODST, Uncharted 2?  Or will it be those that have been around the block like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Left 4 Dead or something else?

Details of the event will be decided upon once we get a good idea of what you guys and girls want.  Once that is decided, we’ll gather up our dice and roll baby roll.  We have to cross the I’s and dot the T’s ya know.  It’ll be a glorious event mixed with a lot of awesome sauce and I know how you all love some awesome sauce.

So leave a comment or send me an email listing the game and console you want us to showcase at this bonanza.  Which shall it be?

  4. Did the marketing Help or Hurt?

    51 Logo

I think it’s safe to say that there are marketing campaigns that succeed and others that fall flat.  What many underestimate though is the effect that marketing can have on a game, movie or other form of entertainment.  When it’s good, it’s good but when it goes bad…it really goes bad.  And then there are times when the initial point was to have it go bad because in some strange ways bad is actually good.

I’m sure that was confusing but work with me.  There’s an old saying that goes ’any publicity is good publicity’.  In some cases it’s hard to argue that it isn’t that way.  Dante’s Inferno anyone?  In my opinion I think the marketing around Dante’s Inferno has been very effective.

That brings me to my question.  Think about your favorite game/movie or your least favorite game/movie.  Think about a game  or movie that you intend on purchasing or viewing in the near future.  Did the marketing help or hurt when it came down to a) finding out about it, b) buying the game or tickets or c) totally wiping it off of your list of games/movies to pay attention to.

    What say you?

I wanted to thank everyone who has followed the ”whatis51” saga since the debut of Viral City a few months ago.  You have all been amazing with your support!  From our fans to the companies we’ll soon be partnering with, the support has been incredible.

It all started with that simple question and has grown into something that the entire team is proud of.  What your enthusiasm told us was that you were tired of being seen as just a number to PR…you were sick of being left out on all the cool things…and you were finished with trying to communicate with robots.
