One of my favorite games on the Xbox 360 is Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake. It’s a game that many of you likely have heard nothing about and that’s a shame. It has one of the best chapters to experience in recent game memory (Chapter 6) and it has some very good downloadable content that extends it beyond the final game.
I suppose though you’ll be checking it out after this though right? So we’ll be looking for our check in the mail Remedy. (wink)
Anyway, IGN had an interesting story that revolved around marketing and how it could be ineffective. Alan Wake suffered from quite a few marketing blunders and none perhaps more critical than its release date. Why would they release it next to one of the year’s most anticipated titles? It’s about proper strategy people.

“I think we could have benefited from maybe being able to have an even crisper communication of what the game does,” says Remedy’s Matias, “and we should have probably backed that up with stronger advertising about what’s unique about this game.””
Don’t worry Matias, if you guys get the green light for a sequel then we’ll have 51 ways to make sure Alan Wake 2 kicks the doors down on the shadows and the public! So give us a call.
What say you out there? Have you played Alan Wake? If so, what did you think? And if not, why not?
